Now that this thing is actually happening I guess it’s time to tell you what I’ve been working on. I haven’t been talking about it much because I think you can easily squash a creative idea by yakking about it too early in the process. I’ve been writing a show for the past few months and I’ll be appearing in it on July 12 and 13 at 8pm at the Steve Allen Theater in Silverlake. You can buy tickets here.
The show is called Mother Tongue and the amazing Robert Cucuzza will be directing. Bob and I worked on a Richard Foreman play together many moons ago and we recently reconnected. He’s a great talent and I’m so fortunate to have him on board.
The blurb in the Steve Allen Calendar reads:
MOTHER TONGUE is a kaleidoscopic new multi-character show from the keen-eyed and sharp-tongued Jillian Lauren (NY Times bestselling author of Some Girls) about blood, tribe, identity and how the hell to parent a post-modern family.
So there you have it. If you’re local, come see the show! It’s going to be a ride.
