I recently made the hajj to my homeland (Jersey not Mecca) to visit my prodigal brother and his five year old son. My once Deadhead brother went the way of Rebbe Nachman- Ukranian rabbi, sage and mystic- about ten years ago and since then has a groovy haircut and spends most of his time davening. This was the first stateside appearance of my Israeli nephew and I fell madly in love with him at first sight. We spent our days walking around the neighborhood while learning new words like house, flower, tree, Winnie-the-Pooh and all the lyrics to “We are the Champions.” The picture is a little blurry because he never stops moving.
On my way out I slipped the adorable little critter a BLT and a Rolling Stones CD and promised him there was more where that came from should he ever decide to run away to Los Angeles and live with us on our heretical commune in Eagle Rock.
Scott and I leave for Japan tomorrow and kick off the Weezer tour in Nagoya on Tuesday. Right now I’m off to try, once again, to shove my motorcycle boots into my suitcase.
